Vintage Sterling Silver Gilt Ruby & Green Stone Cocktail Ring · Size 8

A striking vintage sterling silver cocktail ring with an elaborate gilt setting, faceted rubies and vivid green stone accents.
 
The oversized circular face measures approximately 30 mm across and features an intricate, layered design. Faceted ruby gemstones form the outer border and appear again through the raised central section, while numerous small faceted green stones create a contrasting floral pattern throughout the openwork setting.
 
The ruby stones tested in the ruby range on a gemstone tester. The identity of the green stones has not been confirmed; although emerald was considered, they may be another gemstone or glass/paste and are therefore described simply as green stones.
 
The upper portion of the ring has a warm gold gilt finish over sterling silver, contrasting with the silver-coloured shank and open gallery beneath. Radiating supports under the large circular face give the ring its substantial, dimensional profile.
 
A wonderfully bold vintage statement ring with a richly detailed, almost mandala-like arrangement of colour and texture.
