Vintage 14K Gold Fancy Round Box Chain · 20" Italian Gold Necklace

A beautifully made vintage Italian 14K gold chain with an unusual fine, rounded link construction. The tiny interlocking links create a tubular profile with a subtle twisting pattern, giving the chain wonderful texture and sparkle while remaining exceptionally delicate in appearance.
 
The exact name for this particular link has proven rather elusive. After researching a number of similar vintage Italian chain styles, it appears closest to a fancy round box or Venetian-style link, with characteristics also reminiscent of serpentine, snake and other tightly articulated Italian chains. Rather than assign it a definitive style that may not be correct, we have described it as a fancy round box chain based on its construction and rounded profile.
 
Measuring 20 inches long and approximately 0.95 mm wide, this is a beautifully fine chain, yet it has an impressive weight of approximately 3.7 grams. It would be lovely worn alone for a subtle glimmer of gold or paired with a favourite pendant.
