Victorian 9ct Gold Engraved Brooch · Birmingham 1890 Floral Pin

$525.00Price

Dating to 1890, this beautifully engraved Victorian 9ct gold brooch is a wonderful example of late 19th-century English craftsmanship. Assayed in Birmingham, the brooch features intricate hand-engraved floral and foliate motifs accented with graceful scrollwork and a decorative scalloped border finished with delicate beaded detailing around the edge.

At the top is an elegant shield-shaped cartouche, traditionally intended for a monogram, which remains unengraved and adds to the brooch's clean, timeless appeal. The finely executed bright-cut engraving catches the light beautifully, creating subtle sparkle across the warm gold surface without the use of gemstones.

The reverse bears Birmingham hallmarks for 9ct gold, the 1890 date letter, and an unidentified maker's mark reading "T & Co." While the maker remains unidentified, the quality of the engraving and construction reflects the skilled workmanship associated with Victorian Birmingham jewellery.

Whether worn on a lapel, scarf, collar, or displayed as part of a collection of antique jewellery, this elegant Victorian brooch is a charming survivor from the late nineteenth century and a beautiful piece of wearable history.

Every antique piece has a story, and this brooch is ready to begin its next chapter.
