A striking vintage 10K yellow gold cocktail ring featuring a large rectangular step-cut synthetic sapphire in a vivid violet-purple colour.
 
Measuring approximately 12 × 10 mm, the stone has broad stepped facets that create strong flashes of lavender, violet and deeper purple as the ring moves. It is held securely at the corners in a raised four-prong setting.
 
The gallery is particularly attractive, with an open geometric construction beneath the stone and split, fluted shoulders that rise toward the setting. This gives the substantial gemstone plenty of presence while keeping the goldwork relatively light and elegant.
 
A wonderful mid-century statement ring with the oversized colourful gemstone look that became particularly popular in the 1940s and 1950s.
