Vintage 10K Gold Black Alaskan Diamond Ring · Marquise Stone · MOVEL · Size 6.25

A striking vintage 10K yellow gold ring set with a long, faceted marquise-cut black stone traditionally described as a Black Alaskan Diamond aka hematite.
 
The dark stone measures approximately 11.9 x 5.95 mm and has an elongated navette shape with broad facets that catch the light subtly across its nearly opaque surface. It is secured by four substantial gold prongs.
 
The setting is particularly nice on this one. A fluted, ribbed gold surround follows the outline of the marquise stone, giving the ring a slightly scalloped appearance when viewed from above. From the side, the stone sits in a raised gallery with open detailing beneath it. Split shoulders transition into a slender polished gold band.
 
The ring is stamped 10K MOVEL and has also been tested as 10K gold.
