A genuine Victorian sewing collectible dating to 1888, this antique sterling silver thimble features an intricate all-over floral pattern with deeply textured, radiating petals. More than 135 years old, it carries a full set of Birmingham silver hallmarks and the maker's mark attributed to Constantine & Floyd, documented Birmingham makers of thimbles during the late 19th century.
The surface has developed a wonderful darkened patina that brings out the floral detail. This is a well-used working thimble with visible holes and punctures through the silver from historic use, along with scratches, wear and age-related marks. These signs of wear are part of its long working history and have been clearly photographed.
