A wonderful antique sterling silver desk accessory by renowned maker Sampson Mordan & Co., hallmarked for Chester, 1926. This solid silver paperweight houses a removable 1961 Smythson of Bond Street calendar, though a few months are missing. The piece is finely crafted and bears the Chester assay office mark (three wheat sheaves and sword), lion passant for sterling, date letter D (1926), and maker’s mark S & I attributed to Sampson Mordan.

Sampson Mordan was well known for creating elegant silver desk items, novelties, and luxury stationery accessories, making this an exceptional collector’s piece. It is heavy in the hand at 292.7 grams, and its clean Art Deco styling gives it timeless appeal.

Condition: good antique condition with expected patina and surface wear. Missing some calendar months, but retains several original 1961 cards (Frank Smythson Ltd). A rare and impressive desk ornament that reflects both fine silversmithing and stylish functionality.
