Antique 1901 9ct Gold Perfume Bottle Pendant · Edwardian Scent Bottle
An antique 9ct gold miniature perfume or scent bottle pendant dating to 1901, complete with its removable stopper.
The tiny rectangular bottle has softly rounded corners and a hand-engraved floral and foliate design sweeping across the front. The reverse is polished and carries the British hallmarks, including the 375 gold fineness mark and date hallmark.
At the top is a miniature bottle neck fitted with a removable domed stopper. Two loops at the shoulders support a fine gold suspension chain, allowing the little bottle to hang below the necklace chain as a pendant. The suspension gives it a wonderful resemblance to the full-sized scent bottles carried during the period.
At just over 2 cm for the bottle itself, this is a genuinely miniature functional-form piece of Edwardian jewellery.
The gold shows surface marks, fine scratches and mellowing consistent with a piece more than 120 years old. We have left its vintage character intact.
