Vintage 1978 9ct Gold Spinel Pendant · British Modernist Geometric Necklace
A striking vintage 9ct yellow gold pendant dating to 1978, designed in a wonderfully architectural openwork style characteristic of 1970s jewellery.
The long rectangular pendant features an abstract textured gold design within its open framework, accented by two small deep red spinels set side by side. The contrast between the clean rectangular outline and the irregular organic gold work inside gives this piece a distinctive Brutalist/Modernist quality.
The reverse carries a full set of British hallmarks, including the 375 mark for 9ct gold and a 1978 date letter.
A fabulous little piece of genuine 1970s design — understated enough for everyday wear but far more interesting than a conventional gold pendant.
Chain shown in photographs is not included.
