Antique Amethyst Ring · 14K Rose Gold · Victorian Edwardian Cushion Amethyst
A beautiful antique amethyst ring with a wonderfully delicate setting and an especially rich purple stone.
The centrepiece is a large 12 x 9 mm cushion-cut amethyst, held within a finely detailed 14K rose gold setting. The gallery is particularly lovely, with a repeating pierced design beneath the closely spaced claws that surround the stone.
The amethyst has a deep traditional cut, and its pavilion — the pointed underside of the gemstone — extends below the open-backed setting. This is part of the ring's construction and should be noted as the point may rest against or be felt on the finger when worn.
The slender rose gold band gives the ring a wonderfully light, refined appearance and allows the substantial amethyst to take centre stage.
Based on the construction and styling, this piece appears consistent with the late Victorian to Edwardian period, approximately c. 1890–1915. As there are no identifying date hallmarks, the age is an informed estimate rather than a definitive date.
A lovely antique piece for an amethyst collector, February birthday, or anyone drawn to beautifully simple early jewellery.
