Vintage Scottish Green Agate Pendant in Sterling Silver

A striking vintage Scottish sterling silver pendant set with a wonderfully patterned green banded agate.
The large oval cabochon features layers of sea green, soft cream and crisp white banding sweeping dramatically across the stone. Because agate is a natural material, its individual patterning makes this pendant completely unique.
 
The stone is simply bezel set in sterling silver, allowing its beautiful colour and natural banding to take centre stage. The substantial setting has a lovely weight and a clean, understated design that gives the piece an appealing vintage Modernist feel.
 
The silver carries a series of Scottish hallmarks including the Edinburgh assay mark, along with a partially worn maker/sponsor's mark and date letter. Because the latter marks are not sufficiently crisp for a confident attribution, no specific maker or year is being claimed.
