A wonderfully detailed vintage sterling silver lizard brooch set with sparkling marcasite.
 
The dimensional lizard has an elongated curved tail, articulated-looking legs and wonderfully detailed little feet. Rows of individually set marcasites decorate the head, body and tail, while beaded and engraved silver detailing adds texture throughout.
 
The reverse is fitted with a long brooch pin together with an additional safety chain ending in a separate safety pin. The safety pin attaches independently to the garment, providing extra security should the main brooch fastening come loose.
 
The silver has developed natural age-related patina, particularly within the recessed areas, which brings out the intricate detailing.
