Antique 14K Gold Opal & Seed Pearl Heart Brooch · Edwardian Art Deco
This beautiful vintage 14K yellow gold heart brooch features an oval opal surrounded by seed pearls in an intricate openwork design.
The heart-shaped gold frame is set with approximately 26 small seed pearls measuring around 2mm each. At the centre is an oval opal measuring approximately 5.8mm x 8mm, accompanied by a single larger pearl measuring approximately 4mm positioned to one side of the opal.
The combination of opal, pearls and delicate scrolling goldwork gives the brooch a distinctly romantic, antique-inspired appearance. The asymmetrical placement of the larger pearl beside the central opal adds an especially charming detail to the design.
The reverse is fitted with a pin for wearing as a brooch. There is also an additional small fitting on the reverse that may originally have allowed the piece to be attached to or suspended from a chain, although its original purpose has not been confirmed.
The gold is unmarked and has been acid tested as 14K.
