A charming vintage brooch combining a dramatic black grosgrain ribbon bow with a small engraved oval photo locket suspended beneath.
 
The warm gold-tone locket is decorated with engraved flowers and foliage around its face, framing a beautifully flowing script monogram that appears to be the letter L. The locket opens to reveal two recessed spaces intended for photographs.
 
The contrast between the black grosgrain bow and aged gold-tone locket gives this piece a distinctly sentimental, almost mourning-jewellery appearance. The metal has developed an attractive aged patina with visible areas of darkening and wear consistent with its age.
 
The bow is fitted with a pin across the reverse, allowing the entire piece to be worn as a brooch.
