Antique Victorian 15K Gold Onyx & Seed Pearl Mourning Brooch · Navette Bar Pin
An elegant late Victorian mourning brooch crafted in 15K gold, black onyx and seed pearls.
The brooch has a long, slender navette form with a polished black onyx face, its deep black surface contrasting beautifully with the warm gold and delicate seed pearl decoration. The elongated shape is particularly striking and very characteristic of late 19th-century mourning jewellery.
The reverse reveals substantial gold construction, with a long gold backing running almost the full length of the onyx. It retains its antique pin fitting with an exceptionally long pin stem, along with a small heart-shaped keeper at the centre.
Measuring approximately 6.65 cm long, this is a beautifully proportioned brooch—large enough to have presence while retaining the restrained elegance associated with Victorian mourning jewellery.
A wonderful surviving example of late 19th-century fine jewellery, particularly appealing for a collection of Victorian mourning or sentimental jewellery.
